Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

Injuries receive special attention and specific treatments from Choice Physical Therapy’s skilled physical therapists; Orthopaedic rehabilitation programs help post-surgical and patients with chronic conditions get back to their daily routines.

Active Release Techniques® (ART)

Choice Physical Therapists are trained in Active Release Technique®, or ART.  ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Graston Technique ®

Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. Originally developed by athletes, the technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. For the patient, utlizing this technique:

  • Decreases overall time of treatment
  • Fosters faster rehabilitation/recovery
  • Reduces need for anti-inflammatory medication
  • Resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent

Overview:  Physical therapists use a variety of modalities to help treat their patients. There are a variety of treatment modalities that can help strengthen, relax, and heal muscles. Below are a few of the treatment modalities physical therapists used daily in their practice.

Aquatic Therapy

Choice Physical Therapy offers patients individualized pool sessions, providing guidance and instruction throughout your session.  Proper posture and form are emphasized to maximize the benefits of the aquatic environment.  The buoyancy of the water reduces loading across joints to allow exercise that would otherwise be too difficult on land.  The warmth and pressure of the water may further assist with pain relief, decrease swelling and increase ease of movement.  Aquatic Therapy is performed at Brannon’s Pools on North Main Street in St. Albans.  Please contact our office for an appointment.

Therapeutic Exercise

Choice Physical Therapy’s therapists are exceptionally well-trained in orthopaedics, exercise science and musculoskeletal trauma, allowing them to provide the most up-to-date, technologically advanced treatment approaches. In addition to designing home exercise programs, they can guide patients in functional activities and agility training, lumbar and cervical stabilization, muscular exercise, and aquatic therapy which utilizes warm water as an exercise and pain relief medium.

Occupational Health Services and Rehabilitation

Employers and employees take advantage of Choice Physical Therapy’s workplace health and safety programs, including work-site assessments, work conditioning, work injury management, industrial rehabilitation, ergonomic evaluations, and preventative education programs.
